On this episode of Searching for History, we drive down a 4x4 trail and visit the ruins of the Stormont Silver Mill and the Babylon House. The silver mill was built circa 1880s. This was a water powered mill. The stone walled ruin that exists today was the mills office building. This explains why you see what is left of stucco or plaster on the interior side of the wall. The mill is related to the nearby ghost town of Babylon, where the mill workers and their families lived, some 40 to 50 people. The concrete foundations located here are known as the “Babylon House.” During the 1980s, a John Vought, purchased the property to build a retirement home but while under construction the project burned down and was abandoned. Join us as Erin, Thora and Rolin visit the ruins of the Stormont Silver Mill and the Babylon House. #oldwest #utah #offroad Music Attributions Song 1: To the Top by Silent Partner (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required) Song 2: Natural Light by Chris Haugen (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required)
