EORTC 1205: sequencing chemotherapy in pleural mesothelioma
Jo Raskin, MD, Antwerp University Hospital (UZA), Edegem, Belgium, discusses the Phase II EORTC 1205 trial (NCT02436733) in patients with pleural mesothelioma. The study compared upfront surgery, followed by chemotherapy against deferred surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Despite failing its statistical endpoint, the trial showed that surgery is feasible, with over 90% of patients undergoing surgery and a significant proportion achieving complete macroscopic resection. However, the trial also revealed a disappointing lack of response to new adjuvant chemotherapy. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
