The transcription of J. S. Bach's Prealudium and Fugue in D minor BWV 554 for 4 trumpets was performed at a tribute concert to celebrate the 70th birthday of Ms. Éva Nagyiván, the beloved trumpet teacher of generations in Hungary. She was the assisstant professor of trumpet at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music Teachers' Training College in Győr for a decade while she had been teaching at music schools and music high schools (secondary schools) in the cities of Veszprém and Budapest for her entire active life. She is the co-writer of a four volume trumpet tutor (Varasdy−Nagyiván−Sztán: Trombitaiskola) which serves as the basis of the elementary curriculum of trumpet teaching not only in Hungary, but the first two books of it in France as well. The piece was performed by Csaba Hontvári (1st tr), successor of Ms. Nagyiván at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music Teachers' Training College Győr (which institute has changed its status and belongs to the local Széchenyi University since 1996), Imre Kránitz (2nd tr.), Tamás Németh (3rd tr.), trumpeters of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, Ákos Szilli (4th tr.), trumpet teacher at music schools in Mosonmagyaróvár and Komárom, Hungary. The latter three trumpeter had studied in the class of Ms. Nagyiván, and graduated from the Győr College of Music in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The concert was held on 19th of June 2010 at the University Concert Hall of the Széchenyi University Tibor Varga Institute of Musical Arts (the building was formerly a Synagogue) in Győr, Hungary.
