00:00 - 00:22 intro 00:22 - 03:30 locomotive sketch 03:30 - 03:57 tender sketch 03:57 - 05:22 coloring the locomotive 05:22 - 05:36 coloring the tender 05:36 - 06:05 The locomotive in its splendor 06:05 - 06:26 outro Before the second world war, Romanian was in need of steam locomotives and it had already bought licenses for various Austrian and Hungarian models, but it was still seeking a more versatile locomotive capable of high speed and able to pull heavy loads. The authorities at the time were very impressed with the German DRB Br50 and placed an order for 100. These 100 were built at various locations throughout Germany, but due to the war effort and all metal ecoming scarce, the lighter, more coal consuming model Br52 was produced. Some came from Floridorf, Vienna (20 pieces), Schwartzkopff, Berlin (10 pieces), maschinenbau und Bahnbedarf AG (ex Orenstein & Koppel) Berlin (13 pieces), Skoda, Plzen (17 pieces) and lastly, and most of all, came from Henschel & Sohn, Kassel (40 pieces). These engines were delivered throught the second world war, and after the war had ended about 30 Br42, Br44, Br50 and Br52's but CFR under the new communist rule needed more so it placed an order of about 223 additional steam locomotives to its own main producers (Resicza and Malaxa) which were to produce the Br52 model. These German models were carrying numbers 150.1000 to 150.1130 while the Romanian counterparts were numbered from 150.000 to 150.223. All these engines were produced until 1964 when an extensive dieselization program occurred, rendering steam useless. The one drawn in the video represents the most powerful steam locomotive produced at Resicza. Not the same can be said about Malaxa which produced a prototype (class 151 )much more powerful than the 150. There is a distinct difference between the German Br52's and the Resicza 150.000, more precisely, the ones built in Romania were built to support burning oil, hence they have (additionally) and oil tank on top of the tender.
