FAO Mission Strengthens Animal Health Preparedness in T&T

The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries (MALF), through its Animal Production and Health Division (APH) and in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), recently hosted a critical on-site mission under the TCP/TRI/4001 Project: Animal Disease Outbreak Response in Trinidad and Tobago. This FAO-led mission focused on critical areas such as lab protocol evaluation, biosafety training, outbreak preparedness, surveillance strategies, and interagency collaboration to enhance the country’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to priority animal diseases such as Avian Influenza, African Swine Fever, PRRS, and Foot and Mouth Disease.
