On September 17, 1946, a Sabena Airlines Douglas DC-4 (OO-CBG) took off from Shannon Ireland en route to New Your via Gander, Newfoundland. The plane was carrying 44 people. In the early morning hours of September 18th, the plane's approach to Gander was hampered by fog and drizzle. Disoriented, the plane's crew flew low, hitting the forest and crashing 35 km south of Gander. 27 people were killed in the crash while 16 passengers and one crew member survived. It took several days to find the crash site and several more days to rescue the survivors. The dead were buried at the site - now known as St. Martin's in the Woods. Join us as we travel from Clarenville to the crash site. Come along for a ride with Peter Troke and Paul Tilley from Clarenville to the Sabena Crash site - 135km from Clarenville.
