This replay is a simple 1 credit run, therefore the strategies for highest score are not shown. Metal Freezer is a rare game by Seibu Kaihatsu (probably a Japan exclusive), which resembles a lot an older game published by the same company, called Mustache Boy. The concept is pretty straightforward, the player pilots a machine that must be used to paint all the tiles in a round, it can jump with a jet engine and freeze enemy cars and flying ships. A life is lost if player's machine collides with an enemy or its shot, or falls in a pit, or if time runs out. When losing a life, all the powers are reset to basic values as well. Every 5 rounds the game mechanic changes, instead of clearing tiles you must find a key, then the exit. The freezing beam should not be shot continuously, as the machine will overheat in that case. Once an enemy has been frozen, it can be pushed on a wall or pit to be killed, while you can also destroy other enemies. The jumps can be widely extended with the support of a yellow bouncer, and skilled control of movement during these jumps is a key to survive in later rounds. There are also other different types of floors, such as falling tiles, big magnets, or tunnels (meaning that you can't jump while passing through them). Then, it is also possible to be frozen by an enemy, blocking your ability to jump, or be overheated by a particular enemy shot. Difficulty - As you stash several points in the game, the rank goes up and this means time will expire more rapidly, enemies won't stay frozen for long time, and similar time-related effects. Score - The maximum score possible for the game (I managed to get it just through training) is the counterstop, so 999.999 points. Useless to say, the levels must be farmed out as much as possible, putting you to higher risk of failures. (If I ever get that score, I'll submit another video to my team's channel) Powerups - several powerups can be acquired in the rounds, by going under colored tunnels labeled with a letter, or they can be won in Bonus Game (a roulette that shows up after every round ending with the digit 2, 4, 7, 9, until round 42). These are: -Arms (A): boosts your freezing beam. (Only one is needed) -Speed up (S): boosts the speed of your machine. (Up to 4? are needed to max speed - the game is doable with just 2 boosts i.m.o.) -Option (O): allows the machine to shoot a freezing beam backwards. -Barrier (B): a one-time protection from any shot or enemy collision. -Time stop (T): enemies and projectiles stop moving for some seconds, timer stops too. -10000 pts (roulette only): well... points. That's it. -1UP (roulette only): another self-explanatory. Lives are otherwise won at 30K, 80K, 150K pts with default settings. -Freeze block (roulette only): enables the ability to freeze walls (except on rounds multiple of 5) and destroy them - causing an extra tile to be required as well. Very useful ability to create shortcuts. -Paint wide (roulette only): grants you the ability to cover the tiles adjacent to yours when running through the mazes. Very useful ability to speed up the whole process. (I won one Paint wide in this replay) Secret - in each round with red walls (all rounds ending with digit 1 or 6), there is one wall that can be pushed several times to earn some 1.000 points bonuses. The wall will turn gold colored while doing so.
