Following complaints of illegal mining in and around the Beas River in the Fatehpur assembly constituency of Kangra district, the district administration has taken a strict stance. Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa has issued orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023, imposing a strict ban on mining activities in the Beas River, Re, Tatwali, and Riyali Gram Panchayat areas under the Fatehpur sub-division. No mining activity will be permitted in these areas between 5 PM and 6 AM. Mining and loading operations will only be allowed from 6 AM to 5 PM, while the movement of tippers and trucks loaded with mineral materials will be permitted only between 10 AM and 5 PM. The police administration has also been put on high alert to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
