Filmed with a Quarz 5 camera (standard 8mm). Clockwork, Russian made. You had to remember to wind it up between shots - but no batteries to buy or charge! Semi-auto exposure - you moved a needle in the viewfinder to the central position, using a lever under the exposure meter beneath the lens. I think it had a 5:1 manual zoom. Manual focusing (with this sort of filming you just guessed the distance and set the focus ring - no indication in the aerial viewfinder whether you were in focus or not). I was far too fond of filming on the long end of the zoom - so lots of soft focus. Mercifully short, because filmstock was expensive! I see that I managed to get some dirt in the gate, somewhere between Tooting High Street and the common. Video transfer off the screen, using a 1950s Bell & Howell projector. Kodachrome film. Archers: Gordon Smith and Tony Fletcher.
