I really do miss playing the blues. It really helps get my emotions out and I always enjoyed the more acoustic side of the blues compared to Electric Chicago Blues. The only issue I have whenever I'm playing the blues is that I'm often told to get rid of my own style and sound the players of the past. Especially since a couple of people online have a problem with me being more of a lip purser rather than a 100% pure tongue blocker or that I have a lot of non-traditional influences in my playing (aka those who are not, to those people, "real blues"). I know I anger a lot of blues elitists for doing my own thing and I'm proud of it. Life is too short to be a carbon copy of somebody else after all. It's just thinking of the feeling that I'm never gonna please everybody that makes me feel down. I don't know if it's because of my up-bringing, but I've always been an incredibly bad people-pleaser (which sounds ironic because I'm kind of infamous for being stubborn). Whenever I hear the phrase "you should take everybody's opinion into consideration" or anything of that nature, it feels like I have to do whatever people say in order to not offend anyone. That's why I created that mask of me being submissive when that's really not who I really am. Without the mask, I like to stand up for what's right to the point where I'm extremely blunt about it. A lot of older folks especially see that personality trait of mine as me being toxic, stubborn, or cocky and they want to see me go back into the mask which I had before. But I'm not going back to that for them. That's why I'm proud of myself just following my heart in terms of my harmonica goals. Harmonica Used: Hohner Golden Melody Progressive in the key of A (2nd Position in E)
