To perform assisted gait training with a ceiling hoist, place an RgoSling ambulating vest with groin straps around the middle of the patient while seated in their wheelchair and tighten the two buckles so that the vest is secure. Place the left groin strap around the patient's left leg and secure with the buckle. Repeat on the right leg strap. Move and lower the cradle of the ceiling hoist so that it is suspended just in front of the patient at about head height. Hook the two straps on left side of the patient to the corresponding hooks on left side of the cradle. Repeat for the two straps on the right side. Move the wheelchair so that it is between the end of two bars of physical therapy parallel bars and lock the wheels. While the patient supports themselves by holding the two bars, raise the ceiling hoist until the patient is in a standing position. The hoist should not be supporting the patient's weight. The therapist can then walk behind or in front of the patient to assist them. After training, the patient should stand at the end of the parallel bars so that their wheelchair can be placed behind them. While the patient supports themselves using the bars, the hoist can be lowered until the patient is comfortably sitting in their wheelchair. The straps can then be unhooked from the cradle and the cradle can be moved out of the way. The sling can then be removed by unclipping the buckles.
