This is a real world comparison between the Blazar Talon 50mm f2.1 1.5x anamorphic and the Sirui Astra 50mm 1.33x, shot on the Sony A1 II. I went into this wanting to see how these two lenses actually behave outside of controlled tests, especially when it comes to autofocus and the pulsing issue that can show up with the Sirui. Both lenses create a strong anamorphic look, but they handle motion, focus transitions, and overall stability very differently. The Blazar Talon gives a noticeably wider image at the same focal length, which changes how scenes feel when moving through them. Autofocus was consistent and stable throughout my testing, with no pulsing or background shifting. The Sirui Astra is a bit sharper and more contrasty, but I ran into pulsing in certain situations, particularly with movement and complex backgrounds. I left some of those moments in so you can see exactly what I’m seeing rather than just describing it. This is not a lab test. It is a practical comparison shot in a real environment to help you decide which lens fits your shooting style. Shot on Sony A1 II with DJI RS4 Pro. Curious what others are seeing with the Astra in real world use.
