CNW An Afternoon at Deval Tower, April 5, 1993

A couple months after CP transferred me to Milwaukee, I found my way to CNW's Deval Tower in Des Plaines, IL which was still manned at the time. It had three different diamond crossings forming a triangle. The CNW Northwest Line (the Harvard Sub) featured numerous Metra trains throughout the day and crossed the WC (ex-SOO Line) in front of the tower and crossed the CNW freight main out of Proviso to the west of the tower. The WC crossed the CNW freight line behind the tower. The SOO Line/CP has trackage right over the CNW (today the UP) between Bryn Maur and Shermer to directly access Bensenville Yard. The tower suffered an electrical fire and was eventually torn down in November 2012.
