Firstly, I would like to thank Crusader Singapore for the invitation. The event was fun and had positive vibes all around. I would also like to thank the boat capt from Team 1 for keeping us safe when it was the water choppy. The competition scoring was based upon the amount of fish caught above 1ft/28cm and not based of weight. I literally only prepared my equipment the day before by heading off to Lure Haven to purchase some Tenyas. As usual, I took whatever green and orange tenyas I could find and tried some other variations which did seem to work well on the comp day, especially the pure gold color. Team 1 started off strong, in particular our star fisherman on the boat - Ivan. He was landing fishes at a decent rate, with the rest of the team cheering him on! At one point it was neck and neck between Ivan and another gentleman with communications between the boats updating constantly however the other gentleman was always 1 fish ahead! It was a non stop back an forth between the anglers. Eventually at the end of the day, Ivan managed to come in a respectable 2nd place after a long and tough fight. I managed to land a few decent fishes including a 4.5kg Sea bass on the BB-X Larissa. I just spooled new line (Shimano PE 1.5 TBA) on the reel and was pleasantly surprised how it held up. Congratulations to all the winners, y'all deserved it! It was nice making new friends and seeing familiar faces at the competition like Noor Aly, Lawrence Ng, Md Rizal Sam, Power Anglerz Singapore, CRUSADER クルーセイダー and many more.
