Once you have finished this video, you will have setup a Minecraft server and be hosting in on your computer and playing with your friends. This is because we cover every single step of starting a Minecraft server in 2025. That includes how to get the Minecraft server files but also how to create a Minecraft server once you have them and even what to do to allow your friends to join your server. First things first, we will need to download the Minecraft server files. There is a link in the description above to go to our text guide on making a Minecraft server in 2025. On this page, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official download page for the Minecraft server.jar. There, you will see a “minecraft_server_version.jar”. Click this link, and the most recent version of the Minecraft server.jar will download. Now, we need to create a new folder on your desktop called “Minecraft Server”. This is where your Minecraft server files will be located. Move the server.jar file you downloaded into this folder. Then, double-click the server.jar file, and your server will attempt to start generating some files and folders. If it doesn’t, you need to download Java and run the Jarfix, both of which are linked in the description above. In your “Minecraft Server” folder, you should now have an eula.txt file. Open this with notepad, and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”. Save the eula.txt file, and go back to your Minecraft Server directory. Now, double-click the server.jar again. With that being said, let’s test to make sure you can join the server, there is no lag, etc. To do that, open up Minecraft, go to multiplayer, and add a server. The IP for your server is “localhost”.
