He never wanted to replace Izuku because he secretly loved him, but he knew he had to do it to get Class-1A’s trust easily. Therefore, he and his colleague brainwashed Class 1-A along with their teachers in order for them to manipulate their memories so, it seems that Shinsou was with them all along instead of Izuku. Izuku, being the heartbroken boy he was, kept trying to find out what happened and eventually was kidnapped by the villains.
