No Remote ID - FRIA vs RIDE In this video, filmed in March 2025, I'll discuss the relatively new FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) program to allow an exemption to the need for a remote ID capability for recreational radio control model airplane pilots. The FAA already has a program in place, since 2023, that allows an exemption from remote ID. This is called an FAA Recognized Identification Area, or FRIA. A FRIA is approved for an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) club field or an educational institution, and allows recreational pilots to fly at their club field without remote ID. About 6% of AMA model airplane fields did not get approved for a FRIA due to technical reasons. The field may be too close to an airport, etc. The AMA and FAA continued discussions and came up with a program called Remote ID Exemption, or RIDE. RIDES are very similar to a FRIA is that you can fly without remote ID required. www.FAA.gov www.ModelAircraft.org Bigfoot RC airplane: • Arrows RC Bigfoot Unbox, Build and Fly Ruko R111: • Ruko R111 Remote ID Module $40 Remote ID: • Remote ID Sept 20, 2023 Update Date Extens...
