In our latest video, Andrew proclaims that Britain is "the home of adventure" and features four British watch brands that have "adventure in their DNA". Representatives from Nomadic Watches, Sher Watch Company, Christopher Ward, and Elliot Brown are introduced and discuss their brands and watches. Nomadic Watches, founded by Peter McCauley and located in Belfast, aims to put Belfast on the map. The brand makes "adventureproof" watches that are "built to last a lifetime". Its identity is less about being bucketed in as Irish or British; instead, Nomadic Watches refers to itself as a "Belfast company". Its watches, however, proudly feature Irish elements such as Irish names. The Fíor 555 is a GMT watch that helps the wearer "stay connected to your roots and connected to home". Fíor is an Irish word meaning "true". The Céad 126 is an "automotive style" watch, with Céad being an Irish word meaning "first". Its ethos is about "make progress". Sher Watch Company, founded by Darren Sher, stood out from the outset by starting with a range of watches specifically for kids. The founder's son helped design the first watches, which were built for adventure and are considered "grown-up" watches for kids. Aptly named, the Kids Watch features a stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, 100m water resistance, and a full-lume dial, built to handle all the adventures a kid's wrist can handle. The watch is priced at £95 and comes with two straps and a travel case. The brand is now exploring watches that are made for adults. The first adult watch is a collaboration with "That Watch Podcast", which the founder hosts. It is a limited run of 300 watches and features a "beverage rating" instead of a depth rating (though it is ultimately a depth rating of 200 metres). Darren cheekily explains in the video that the "beverage rating" explains how many drinks you can have before the watch becomes illegible. Christopher Ward has long had the "spirit of adventure" and has been on an adventure for over 20 years. It has a variety of well-established adventure watches, including its Dune, Sealander, and Trident watches. However, the C12 Loco is showcased in the video for adventure in the context of pushing the boundaries of the brand's horological exploration, with Anna Templeton, Christopher Ward's Head of Communications Events, describing it as its "most audacious launch" of the year. Pushing the limits even further, it was launched with a feature-length documentary. Returning the focus back to the C60 Trident, Anna and Andrew acknowledged the "huge success" of the Lumiére last summer, which was the brand's first foray into globalite - a visually distinct material that, in simple terms, would be described as a bright block of lume. This initial dip into the usage of globalite led to the Bel Canto Lumiére - yet another smashing success for the brand. As the oldest brand of the four panel participants, the other panellists gave Christopher Ward its flowers, crediting the brand with helping the "category of independent British watch bands grow". Last but certainly not least, Guy Allen, Head of Sales for Elliot Brown, shared how the brand has a deep military link. In 2017, Elliot Brown was asked by the SBS to create a watch together, which became the Holton. The Holton has the "broad arrow" and its own NATO stock number, and is available in automatic, automatic GMT, and quartz. Elliot Brown, according to Guy, receives a military project about every three or four days. They made the Beachmaster watch with a countdown and count-up timer at the request of the Royal Marines, a function which is patented. All of its watches feature a "movement shield system", which is an inner case set in place with three O-rings that act as a suspension system for the movement and dial. The robustness and toughness of mechanical watches allow them to keep going in conditions where smartwatches and wearables stop. Closing the video out, Andrew notes that perhaps the "biggest adventure of all" is that these individuals are "taking a punt on launching and running a watch brand in 2025". Mechanical watches still exist despite the fact that "nobody needs any of these products", but they are necessary for "adventurous undertakings" where smartwatches are insufficient. ------------------------------- https://www.christopherward.com/ https://www.sherwatch.com https://elliotbrownwatches.com/ https://nomadicwatches.com/ ------------------------------- 00:00 Intro 01:05 Nomadic Watches 03:50 Sher Watch Company 07:37 Christopher Ward 10:34 Elliot Brown Watches 12:13 Tudor watches, vintage military watches 13:37 Outro ------------------------------- Read more articles: https://timeandtidewatches.com Shop: https://shop.timeandtidewatches.com ------------------------------- MB01OTIXZLPJ5VH INSTAGRAM @timetidewatches TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/search?q=timea...
