In my testing it could keep up with two simultaneous Blu Ray MKV transcoding sessions provided there wasn't anything else loaded and running on the ShieldTV. As a single transcode device it should work fine for both the local user and a remote one. This puts the device about on par with an i3 or AMD APU powered PC. Not too shabby especially given that it's an Android device running with ARM hardware. Its background power consumption is only about 6 or 7 watts when not in use. The ability to mount network storage as a local external drive is also very interesting and has uses well beyond just Plex. I used a game emulator to pull roms off of my NAS device as opposed to having to store them locally.
