Hey, Finally (and way later than intended) I finished my third homestead design, this one took alot of planning but it went in a couple of phases: Phase 1- Early December 2024: Landscaping - Lay out the ice sheets (I was super afraid these would be difficult to work with, but turned out pretty fun). Removed more of the foresty shrubs and cleared out pretty much all the basic trees (most places that had basic trees in them were replaced with Cherry trees to give a more winter themed vibe. Where there was still terrain clipping, I used snow hemisphere's and cubes to give a frozen pond effect. Phase 2- Mid December 2024: Castle construction - This phase was super fun, I started off with laying bamboo fences over the roof, to create a sort of "skeleton" around the roof. Then I started building with ice castle walls to cover the homestead. After that I went around and replaced all the hold kodan fences with ascalonian pillars and worked around the outside of the castle. Especially the parapets were fun to build and I loved how they really looked circular from up far. Phase 3 - Christmas/Newyears- Building the inside of the homestead went pretty smooth, I had to make some sacrifices to which rooms I was gonna block off (cant wait untill anet increases the cap). Settled that I wanted to use atleast one room that I didnt use on the halloween build. I also decided not to use the balcony this time around. Due to the skeleton frame roof I had layed I could also clip a little more into the roof. The inside of the castle is a bit more cozy, with a throneroom and two sofa's, a nice little fellow who got imprisonned. Im particularly happy with the "staircase" I created in the hallway, because I didnt want to decorate around the original starcase. The room up the stairs is a bit smaller and serves as a smaller hallway, with doorways (kodan wardrobes being clipped into walls) leading further into the castle. The bedroom is what I made during christmas Eve, and it was really fun to put in a nod to my earlier goal: making a disney themed castle. Doing the bedroom was probarbly the most chill moment of the entire project. Due to the lack of space I had to get inventive with the other rooms. I decided to have one wilderness room (where you can sit around a campfire) with a forced view on a sort of "Santa's factory" vibe. On the other room (the greenroom) there is a reindeer flying with santa's sled above a miniature version of the castle (bare bones because of deco limit :() Phase 4 - Januari 2025 /Februari 2025 - The Iceberg - I didnt feel it was quite done yet, so I decided to make a mountain around the homestead. The mountain was really fun to make and I tried perspective warping a bit (so that you viewed the mountain from one side). I was quite suprised how this looked (it actually looked really amazing at some point, but later I added some snow drifts and feel like that impacted the entire build. By chance I had used a glacier overhang, and I felt like it would be awesome if you could ascend the mountain somehow. In my older builds I had an (unfinished) trophy hall, it was actually the first thing I built when learning the decoration system (I was still used to the old decoration system at that point). Deleting that gave me enough space to try to build a way up the mountain. That became a tomb where you ascend all the trophies from W1 to W8 and that way you get on top of the mountain. Obviously I had to grind quite alot of raids to get all the recipes and silver trophies. The inside of the tomb is actually a jumping puzzle aswell, which I will upload soon. Phase 5 - March 2025 - Fixing the shrines - Finally I finished off by redoing some of the shrine areas, because I fell like they just didnt fit the final build. Loved this little experiences and i'm super happy of what I made, im super stoked for the increased homestead limit and with the new patch, I might finally do something I wanted to do for quite awhile: build a medieval monastery. Which I hope I finish before SAB. Long wall of text, but im keeping these as memories of the homesteads I created for later.
