How To Take better Landscape Photographs FAST

If you want to improve your landscape photography fast, the one thing you need to remember is that it is a Subtractive Artform. What do we mean by this? Most other artforms begin with nothing and art is literally added to make a completed piece. A painter starts with a blank canvas, a musician starts with silence, a dancer starts with zero movement. A landscape photographer starts with the landscape in front of them. See what I mean? The creative process is virtually opposite and therefore to make a great shot, we need to decide what elements of the landscape we want to include and crucially which parts we don't. A painter can choose not to paint a rock or a lake, we can't move the rock or drain the lake, so we have to chose how we position the camera to maker the best of these elements. Therefore the process is subtractive. Less is more often. It's a mind set, it's a newbie trap and one that experienced pros fall into regularly too.
