Kraft Mountain to Turtlehead Peak and back through Ash Spring Canyon in Red Rocks National Park, Nevada. Beautiful hike that took a dangerous turn. It goes to show that you can think you've made every correct decision and that you are well prepared and still land in a dangerous situation. Correction: 8:41 - spelling error "began" is misspelled on screen. This is what I get for rushing through the edit! We will just roll with it and add it to the lessons I learned on this adventure! Lessons: 1.) Should have had a Sat Com device like inReach or a satellite phone or starlink connection. 2.) I should have read the topo map for the Ash Canyon trial. I had it downloaded 🤦 3.) I should have told Dwaun exactly which trails I was going to be or likely to be on as well as provided him emergency contact information. 4.) I should have been less cryptic in my initial text messages to Dwaun before losing service in the canyon. My exhaustion affected my communications. 5.) I should have brought my hat out to Vegas so I didn't have to use a hotel towel which actually worked ok. 6.) Skip the oatmeal Cliff bar. That thing was gross and made me more thirsty. 7.) I wish I didn't rush the edit on this video as much as I did. I see a few things I could have done a lot better. 8.) Remember that life is a continuous growing and learning process. Mistakes happen. Learn from them and don't repeat them. 9.) Genuinely good people do exist out there! It's a great reminder to be kind, respectful and polite to all people! You never know when you really might need someone else's help.
