Heavy Rainfall Paralyses Kolkata, City Inundated After Overnight Showers | Bengal News | India Today

Very heavy rainfall has paralyzed normal life in Kolkata, with overnight showers leaving parts of the city and its surrounding areas inundated. On Tuesday, several locations were submerged as life was thrown out of gear. Corporation and PWD workers are on a war footing to drain the water by opening manholes, including outside the state secretariat which is also almost inundated. A PWD worker at the scene stated, "Sir, we are from PWD. And the boss said that water has logged at Navanno... Get the work done quickly." This also raises security concerns as open manholes pose a challenge and barricades are being used for safety.
