Exploring MONTEZUMA CASTLE and Pondering Its Mysteries | 2019

In this episode, we visit a famous Arizona attraction, Montezuma Castle, near Camp Verde, Arizona. Montezuma castle is what remains of a pre-Columbian "apartment complex" built by the Sinagua people hundreds of years ago. Montezuma Castle is one of the best-preserved pueblo structures in the world and is an amazing sight to behold. Montezuma Castle still contains unsolved mysteries, such as why the people who built it decided to abandon the location around 1425 AD. Some believe that drought, resource depletion, or even conflict with tribes new to the area could be behind their mysterious and abrupt departure. Montezuma Castle is a National Monument conveniently located right off of Interstate 17 in Central Arizona. Montezuma Castle is open daily, 8 am to 5 pm, and does cost $10.00 per adult (children under 16 are free). Be sure to bring your National Park Pass if you have one!
