Most of us believe we’re doing the right thing. We care. We show up. We speak out. We vote. We post. And yet… the systems don’t seem to change. In this episode, I break down four cultural patterns that quietly shape our institutions, workplaces, churches, schools, and movements — even when the people inside them have good intentions. This isn’t about calling individuals racist. It’s about naming cultural norms that were built long before us — and that we unconsciously reproduce if we’re not careful. We talk about: • How urgency can silence wisdom • How perfectionism can punish people instead of protect them • How individualism undermines collective change • How the “right to comfort” keeps us from telling the truth Most of the time, these patterns benefit white people — but not always. And the goal isn’t shame. The goal is awareness. Capacity. Strategy. If you’re: – A corporate leader – An educator – A faith leader – A nonprofit executive – Or someone who considers yourself “on the front lines” This conversation is for you. Good intentions are a starting point. But they are not enough to dismantle systems that were built strategically and maintained culturally for generations. In this workshop-style teaching, I offer practical language, real-life examples, and a framework you can bring back to your team immediately. Because this moment we’re in? It’s not just political. It’s cultural. And culture requires strategy. If this resonates: Subscribe to the channel — I’m building toward 1,000 subscribers and would appreciate your support. Drop a comment with which of the four patterns you see most in your organization. Share this with someone who wants to do the work but needs language for what they’re sensing. If you’d like to explore where you or your team currently land on the cultural competency spectrum — and what growth could look like — reach out. I work 1:1 with leaders and organizations ready to move beyond intention into measurable capacity. Let’s build something stronger. Together.
