The liquids used in e-cigarettes used to contain diacetyl, which was a flavouring used in making popcorn. However, diacetyl has been banned from being used in e-cigarettes since 2016 in the UK so currently, there is no evidence linking popcorn lungs with vaping. Vaping can lead to collapsed lungs also known as pneumothorax as well as lipoid pneumonia. There is not yet enough evidence to suggest that vaping can cause lung cancer.
