Jamaican folk song about 'Colon man': the men who went to Colon in Panama and then came back, apparently wealthy with a watch and chain. However he uses the sun to tell the time, either because he can;t read the watch, or because the chain is just for show, and there is no watch on the end of it, depending on which version you hear. I have heard/seen at least two versions of this song - most often it sings of a 'brass chain a lick him belly'' (e.g. Cedella Marlye Booker (   • Cedella Booker Marley   Colon Man  ) but the version I'm singing here is the 'watch and chain a hit him belly' version which, to the best of my memory, is how Cliff Hall sang it with the (Liverpool) Spinners.
