Doctor Sherifa Ahmed Hamed is a Professor of Neurology (MBBCH, MSc, M.D.), Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University Hospital, Assiut, Egypt. She did her fellowship in Children’s Research Institute, Children’s National medical Center, Washington D.C. (1998-2000). She is/was a supervisor for many graduating students' master and doctor degrees' theses. She is the director of the Neurogenetic Research centre, Assiut University Hospital, Assiut, Egypt and the head of the Egyptian Neurogenetic node of HVP. She has about 162 publications and book reviews. She is a reviewer for tens of international medical journals, an editorial board member of many international Journals and an associate editor for Frontiers of Neurology (Epilepsy section). She served in the scientific committee of the ILAE (International League Against Epilepsy), the Neuropsychology Task Force [2014-2017]. She is a member of Egyptian Society of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry (1991-to-present). She is a member in the International Centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Disease (ICGNMD) (UCL, London), Movement Disorder Society, and International Confederation of Countries Advisory Council group for HVP and American Academy of Neurology (AAN). She received several awards and honours which include: (1) Award for scientific and academic achievement for superior presentation in basic research by a fellow at the 14th annual advances in paediatrics educational and scientific forum (May 4, 2000), Children’s Research Institute, Washington DC, USA. (2) Assiut University encouragement award, August 2009/2010, Assiut University, Egypt. (3) Young Arab researchers award of Abdul HameedShomman ([email protected]) (2010/2011). (4) Leadership development scholarship award from ILAE, thirty second International epilepsy congress, Barcelona, Spain (2nd-3rd September 2017).
