Mohan Gopal Supreme Court lawyer, legal scholar, constitutional expert. Dr. G. Mohan Gopal is a distinguished legal scholar and advocate, with a career dedicated to justice and legal reform. He is a practising pro bono Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, focusing on constitutional matters affecting marginalized communities. He is also a Member of the National Judicial Academic Council of the Supreme Court. Internationally, he held key positions such as Chief Counsel at the World Bank and Counsel at the Asian Development Bank and taught law in the United States and in Singapore. Dr. Gopal has contributed significantly to public policy, serving on bodies like the Law Commission of India, SEBI, UGC, and the Kerala State Planning Board. He was also the Founder Chairperson of the National Court Management Systems Committee of the Supreme Court. Dr Gopal holds a Doctorate in Law (SJD) and an LL.M. from Harvard University along with degrees in law and science from Delhi University and Kerala University. With decades of experience across law, education, and public service, Dr. Gopal remains a prominent figure in legal and judicial matters. Dr. Gopal is a leading voice against what he calls ”theocratic judging” through which he argues a nascent theocracy has already emerged in India. He leads several initiatives for the democratization of the Hindu social order and for countering religious hatred using in particular the axiologies of Dr. Ambedkar and Narayana Guru. ഡോ. ജി. മോഹൻ ഗോപാൽ സുപ്രീം കോടതി അഭിഭാഷകൻ, നിയമജ്ഞൻ, ഭരണഘടനാ വിദഗ്ധൻ. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രമുഖ നിയമജ്ഞനും അഭിഭാഷകനുമാണ് ഡോ. ജി. മോഹൻ ഗോപാൽ. നിയമത്തിന്റെയും നീതിന്യായവ്യവസ്ഥയുടെയും നവീകരണത്തിനായി നിരന്തരം പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്ന സുപ്രീം കോടതി അഭിഭാഷകനെന്ന നിലയിൽ ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധേയനാണ് അദ്ദേഹം. പാർശ്വവൽക്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട സമൂഹങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഭരണഘടനാപരമായ കാര്യങ്ങളിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നത്. സുപ്രീം കോടതിയിലെ ദേശീയ ജുഡീഷ്യൽ അക്കാദമിക് കൗൺസിൽ അംഗമാണ് ഡോ. മോഹൻ ഗോപാൽ. അന്തർദേശീയ തലത്തിൽ അതിപ്രധാന സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ പലതും അദ്ദേഹം വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലോകബാങ്കിന്റെ ചീഫ് കൗൺസിലായും ഏഷ്യൻ ഡവലപ്മെന്റ് ബാങ്കിന്റെ കൗൺസിലായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അദ്ദേഹം അമേരിക്കയിലും സിംഗപ്പൂരിലും നിയമ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായും സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പൊതു നയരൂപീകരണത്തിൽ വലിയ സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകിയ വിദഗ്ധനാണ് ഡോ.ഗോപാൽ. ലോ കമ്മീഷൻ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ, സെബി, യുജിസി, കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ആസൂത്രണ ബോർഡ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സുപ്രീം കോടതിയുടെ നാഷ്ണൽ കോർട്ട് മാനേജ്മെന്റ് സിസ്റ്റംസ് കമ്മിറ്റിയുടെ സ്ഥാപക ചെയർപേഴ്സനുമായിരുന്നു. ഹാർവാർഡ് ലോ സ്കൂളിൽ നിന്ന് നിയമത്തിൽ ഡോക്ടറേറ്റും (എസ്ജെഡി- ഡോക്ടർ ഓഫ് ജൂറിഡികൽ സയൻസ്) എൽ എൽ എമ്മും നേടിയ അദ്ദേഹം നേരത്തേ ഡൽഹി സർവകലാശാല, കേരള സർവകലാശാല എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് നിയമത്തിലും ശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും ബിരുദമെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിയമം, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, സാമൂഹ്യസേവനം, എന്നീ മേഖലകളിൽ പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ നീണ്ട അനുഭവപരിചയമുള്ള ഡോ. ഗോപാൽ നിയമപരമായ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ വിശാരദനായ അപൂർവം വ്യക്തികളിൽ ഒരാളാണ്. ഭരണഘടനക്കും മേലെ മതപരമായ വിശ്വാസങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുള്ള നീതിന്യായവ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ രീതികളെ എതിർക്കുന്നവരിൽ മുൻപന്തിയിലാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. മതവിശ്വാസങ്ങൾ ഭരണപരമായ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ ഇടപെടുന്ന സ്ഥിതി ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ഉരുത്തിരിഞ്ഞു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നാണ് ഡോ. മോഹൽ ഗോപാലിന്റെ വാദം. ഹിന്ദു സമൂഹസംവിധാനത്തിന്റെ ജനാധിപത്യവൽക്കരണം ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ നടത്തുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം ഡോ. ബി. ആർ. അംബേദ്കറിന്റേയും ശ്രീ നാരായണ ഗുരുവിന്റേയും തത്വങ്ങളിലൂന്നി മതപരമായ വിദ്വേഷത്തിനെതിരെ ആശയപരമായ പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾ നിരന്തരം നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
