Dubai — The Organising Committee of Challenge Dubai Triathlon, which was held on February 27, under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, has allocated the sum of $300,000 as prizes for the top ten in men and women categories, the richest prizes in this sport which is quickly making unprecedented success in the region. Top rankers in each category will receive a cash prize of $65,000 and there will be $35,000 for runners-up, $20,000 for the third, $9,000 for the fourth, $6,000 for the fifth, $5,000 for the sixth, $4,000 for the seventh, $3,000 for the eighth, $2,000 for the ninth and $1,000 for the tenth in each category. Prizes are distributed equally to men and women, and there are special prizes (trophies) for Emirati participants who take the first three, along with similar prizes for nine age groups from both men and women categories starting from the age of 18 and up to 60 and older. Similar trophies will be awarded to teams including 20 men teams, 8 women teams and 24 mixed teams. The running contest will feature the participation of English athlete Rio from special needs category, with the help of his father Nickwatson in a bid to raise money from companies, institutions and individuals to Rich Rio Charity Foundation as a prelude to holding a ceremony for the disabled at Zabeel Park on 21 March 2015.
