http://www.vouchercodespro.co.uk Save time and money with one pot cooking from Emily Leary and VoucherCodesPro What you need: slow cooker. Hi and welcome to another quick guide to spending, eating, playing and living smart from me, Emily Leary and Voucher Codes Pro. Today I'm going to share with you something we can all appreciate -- one-pot dinners. Why am I such a fan? Because everything is cooked in one, single pan, which means less mess, less washing up, less faff in general. One of my absolute favourites is one-pot veg pasta. It couldn't be simpler. Just set a big pot of salted boiling water on the hob, in goes the dried pasta then, a few minutes from the end, in goes whatever other vegetables you'd like to include. Broccoli cooks really quickly so that will going last couple of minutes, whereas carrots might take a little longer so they'd go in shortly after the pasta. Cook them up, drain them in the pan, stir in some tomato sauce or crème fraîche and seasoning and dish up. That's it and you have a fresh, healthy and very cheap meal with only one pot to wash up. If you like it meaty, stir in some chicken or ham leftovers -- easy! Another favourite in our house is one pot chilli. Fry up some onions, garlic and chilli seasoning in a large pot, brown off the mince and pour off the spare oil, chuck in tinned tomatoes and kidney beans, stick the lid on the pan, turn the heat right down low and leave it to do its thing. It's beautiful -- it just needs seasoning at the end and we serve with microwave rice because I am a bit lazy sometimes. That chilli recipe actually works great in the slow cooker too. Have you got one? They're great little devices as you can stick everything in the pot in the morning, set it to low and have a perfectly cooked meal ready at teatime. A lot of people think that slow cookers are only good for stews but there's actually a huge range of dishes you can make, from macaroni cheese -- really, the sauce thickens up as it cooks the pasta -- through to lasagne and even pizza! And it's not just the hob that gets the one pot cooking treatment. This funky little device is for making bread and it's designed so that you can mix up the dough, prove it and bake it, all in the one dish -- it's one of my favourite kitchen gadgets at the moment and this one's from Lekue. So next time you go to cook dinner, think, could I make this if I only had one pot to work with? Get creative and you could hugely reduce not only the number of hob rings on the go but also the time you need to wash up -- and that's definitely a win-win. That's it for now. Thanks for watching and, as ever, let me know in the comments if you have any of your own tips to share.
