The Colombian artist provided one of the label’s most sought after tracks in 2019 with ‘Tabby’. Championed by Nick Warren for several months it quickly rose to the top of the label’s best selling tracks, while earning praise from a broad spectrum of the progressive house tastemakers. Now returning for a much anticipated followup Salazar presents his ‘Artemisa’ EP. Beginning with ‘Artemisa’ Salazar explores his pure progressive roots with a mystical creation full of powerful qualities. Waves of undulating bass power the foundation while robust rhythms and percussive flurries fill in the framework. A strong effects complement builds momentum, before perfectly segueing into a timely break. Oriental motifs rise to prominence, adding a cinematic flair, as a warm rush summons the beats for a massive drop. The second selection ‘Factor D’ furthers the peak time sensibilities of it’s predecessor, with a full driving groove and electric lines. Spastic effects saturate your senses as the first act unfolds, before the main break brings moments of tension as a quick rise sparks a powerful finale. The EP’s halfway point is marked with the hypnotic vibes of ‘Digging’. Moving with smooth momentum, layers of effects, finely tuned percussion and dulcet rhythms converge for a hip swinging journey. Dramatic overlays play off indistinct vocals and spacey arps across the first act, while the main break adds additional rhythmic qualities, before transitioning into an atmospheric third act. The release concludes with ‘Amba’ which continues the collection’s pure progressive sensibilities. The tempo and drive remain full and fluid as warm synth swells, tasteful tones and striking effects merge for a cosmic narrative. Much like the the lead track, the break has an oriental feel, reflective in tone and timeless in execution, it preludes a driving finale and rounds out a spectacular artist showcase from Salazar, who continues to be one of Colombia’s fastest rising progressive house talents.
