Double the length of act 2 of the stage production but refusing to flesh out any of the rushed parts and instead wasting that time on original songs that will not win them the Oscars they were written for, this movie is a goof fest from start to finish... but it's not totally the fault of the film production. Whether you've experienced it for yourself or heard it from others, act 2 is an insane mess, and attempting to adapt it into a movie was sort of an impossible task. Close your eyes, tap your heels together three times, and think to yourself... there's no place like Wicked: Part One. Plot (via Wiki & ChatGPT) After defying the Wizard, Elphaba Thropp (Cynthia Erivo) lives in hiding, branded the Wicked Witch by Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) while continuing her fight for Animal rights. Glinda Upland (Ariana Grande), now the Wizard’s public face, prepares to marry Fiyero Tigelaar (Jonathan Bailey), captain of the Gale Force, even as he secretly searches for Elphaba. Elphaba reunites with oppressed Animals and visits her sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode), ruler of Munchkinland, whose attempt to magically bind her servant Boq (Ethan Slater) backfires, transforming him into the Tin Man. Returning to the Emerald City, Elphaba briefly agrees to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) but instead frees imprisoned Animals, disrupting Glinda and Fiyero’s wedding. Fiyero joins Elphaba, and the two fall in love. To flush Elphaba out, Morrible conjures a deadly tornado that kills Nessarose. Glinda gives Nessarose’s enchanted shoes to Dorothy Gale (Alisha Weir) and sends her to the Wizard. After Fiyero is captured and seemingly killed, Elphaba embraces her reputation as “wicked.” Dorothy and her companions are sent to destroy Elphaba, while Glinda uncovers Morrible’s crimes and rushes to warn her former friend. Elphaba ultimately surrenders, entrusting Glinda with the Grimmerie, and appears to melt when Dorothy throws water on her. In truth, Elphaba survives. The Wizard—revealed as her father—leaves Oz in shame, Morrible is arrested, and Glinda restores justice and Animal rights.
