Integrating Speaking into CLIL Lessons by Louise Desmier

CLIL is part of the reality of teaching English in Primary and Secondary schools today. The challenge is for our learners to make progress in different subjects while developing their skills in English at the same time. As teachers we must provide them with useful and motivating opportunities to use the language as a means of bringing their subject material to life. In this video, we will first look at the benefits and drawbacks of CLIL and then focus on the speaking skill in particular and what makes a good speaking activity within a CLIL lesson. Together we will explore a range of activities which are adaptable to different subjects and can help our learners develop their fluency and confidence when speaking.
