For sale in our Orlando showroom is a sharp 1976 Pontiac Trans-Am. The Firebird/ Trans-Am model was one of General Motors most popular models in the 70’s. Firebirds were a prominent car used in the Trans-am and SCCA racing series of the 1960’s and 70’s due to their impressive handling characteristics, and slightly lighter body weight. Pontiac first coined the controversial Trans-Am name in 1969 from those races. This Firebird has had an engine change to one of GM’s other popular power plant; a 383 Chevy stroker with a Dart II Sportsman intake, chrome Holly 4bbl carburetor, Hedman Hedders, dual exhaust and an aftermarket HEI distributer will get this F body to move. The Chevy’s power is transferred to the pavement through a 3 speed automatic 400 turbo transmission and a 10 bolt 8.5 posi-rear. The owner did make use of the T/A’s fully functional shaker hood scoop that was originally offered on this car. Unlike most Trans-Am guys that usually go with black with gold graphics this car was done in a very nice gun metal gray paint with a black bird and decals and looks great with the dark red vinyl and cloth interior. Options include: power steering, power brakes, seat belts, cloth and vinyl interior, raised white letter radial tires on 15x8 Pontiac snowflake wheels.
