But since Jurassic World Rebirth seems to be its own standalone thing, we think it has the potential to be the best since the good old days! Keyword: potential. Easily the worst movie in the entire Jurassic Park franchise, Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson for no reason, wastes Mahershala Ali's time more than Kevin Feige has, and features two subplots but zero main plot. Genuinely the only thing it has going for it is that they can't possibly make a direct sequel to it. Please. A malformed six-limbed Tyrannosaurus dubbed the Distortus rex escapes, kills an employee, and forces evacuation. By 2025, Earth’s climate is largely inhospitable to dinosaurs, confining survivors to equatorial “no-travel” zones. ParkerGenix executive Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend) recruits covert-ops expert Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) and paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) to extract biomaterial from Mosasaurus, Titanosaurus, and Quetzalcoatlus for a heart-disease cure. In Suriname, Zora enlists her friend Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) as leader, joined by boatman LeClerc, mercenary Nina, and security chief Bobby Atwater (Ed Skrein). Nearby, sailor Reuben Delgado (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), daughters Teresa (Luna Blaise) and Isabella (Audrina Miranda), and Teresa’s boyfriend Xavier Dobbs (David Iacono) are shipwrecked by the Mosasaurus before both groups converge. The team secures a Mosasaurus sample, but Spinosauruses kill Bobby. Teresa is thrown overboard after Martin panics, and Xavier, Reuben, and Isabella leap in to save her. Nina later dies to a Spinosaurus. Zora reveals a rescue helicopter is due in 24 hours. A Titanosaurus herd provides the second sample. To avoid a live Quetzalcoatlus, Zora, Henry, and LeClerc rappel into a cliff-side temple for an egg; a parent bird devours LeClerc, but Zora and Henry escape with the final sample. Meanwhile, the Delgado family traverses the island, encountering a Mutadon hybrid and an Aquilops named Dolores. After surviving a T. rex attack, they build a raft and head downriver. At the InGen complex, Martin betrays the group, seizing samples and fleeing to the helipad. Mutadons drive the survivors underground. The rescue helicopter arrives but is destroyed by the Distortus rex, which devours Martin. At a locked gate, Isabella squeezes through to unlock it, letting the group reach a boat. Duncan distracts the Distortus rex with a flare, then rejoins them.
