Meet Julie Gibney, the Assistant Director for Children & Families Social Work for Manx Care in the Isle of Man. Julie oversees strategic planning for the Children's Social Work Services, including early help, right the way through to support, care and protection! Born and raised in Liverpool in the UK, Julie trained and worked for much of her career in the Merseyside and North West of the UK, before moving to the Island. Julie relocated for a number of reasons, one of which was a new sense of adventure as she and her partner reached their 50s, whilst also keen to try somewhere completely different! Julie had also heard excellent reports about the workplace culture at Manx Care, varied career progression opportunities and the excellent quality of life that the Isle of Man had to offer. Julie commented that Social Care and Social work in the Isle of Man offers excellent flexible working opportunities, which enables her, and her team to have the best possible work-life balance. "I'm really glad that I relocated to the Isle of Man. It has enabled me to meet lots of different people, given me a very different experience of the same job, and a quality of life that I didn't have before."
