Urban Contemporary V103 signed on the air in May of 1977, first as a disco station and then evolved to a more urban approach by 1979. V103 was home to major local talents like Randy Dennis, Jean Ross, Tim Watts, Ed Fennessey, Frank Ski, Sandi Mallory, DJ Spen and the Numarx brothers, Pat Garrett, Jammer, Big Mike Johnson, Lorenzo Ice T and many others. V103 was always in the top 3 throughout the 80's with most of its competition coming from am stations such as WSID, WEBB, WWIN and WANN. It was the early 90's when 92Q evolved to a more urban sound and then hired Frank Ski away. By 1996, V103 was struggling. Attempts were made under new owners CBS Radio to try and resurrect it, but it was too late. By June 27th, 1997 after 5 years of no CHR in Baltimore, V103 would become 102.7 XYV, which I would land nights at. This video will give you the last 10 minutes of V103 and the first 70 min of XYV.. Enjoy!
