Amazon Affiliate Link: https://amzn.to/3YDWBtW Price as reviewed: $100 ($139 MSRP - 30 coupon) Baseus Solar Security Camera Outdoor, S1 Wireless Solocam, Forever Power with Sunlight-Tracking System, 2K Clarity, 145° Wide View, Built-in 8GB Local Storage and Color Night Vision, No Monthly Fee This camera is solidly made and the hardware looks and feels nice. Picture quality is good, both in the daytime and at night. The manual says that it needs to be within 10m (30 feet) of your router. I've used it successfully about 45 feet away, but it certainly didn't work on a pole in my yard 110 feet away. It also refused to connect to a wifi-repeater I have (several other devices work fine with the wifi repeater, including other cameras on the pole). I feel that it would benefit from an external antenna. I mounted it part way under a tree, and the solar panel is keeping it fully charged even though it doesn't get more than 2 hours of sun a day. I've never seen the solar panel actually track the sun. It moves when you first turn the unit on to find the limits of motion, and you can manually position it with buttons in the app, but when I turn sun tracking on I have never seen it move. (and I've set up timelapse cameras to try and catch it moving...) So as far as I can see, there is no benefit from the "sun tracking" feature of the solar panel, but even without solar tracking it appears to be providing plenty of power for the small number of activations I have each day. My camera is facing the house, and only gets activated 3-10 times a day. I've never had it NOT activate when my doorbell camera detected motion, so it appears to detect people just fine. However, it sometimes stops recording before the "action" is over. [e.g. I've had videos of delivery drivers dropping off a package, but it turns off before capturing them walking back away from the door.] It also takes about 1 second to "start" recording, so for example you'll get a video of somebody walking away from the door, but not of them opening and coming out of the door. The camera has 8GB of onboard recording, and it appears that your video is only stored on the camera. The phone app can download/view recorded videos, but only if the camera is online. If the camera is turned off (stolen?) or offline, the phone app can no longer download/view the recordings. [I believe they sell a home base station product for inside your home that can back up the videos.] The mounting bracket is easy to install, and if you tighten it down with channel locks will keep the camera in place. Because the camera mount point is on the very end, the entire weight of the camera is twisting down on the adjustment point on the mount, so you really need to tighten the ring down tight to keep the camera from dropping down. Because the phone app has to connect to the camera (instead of the cloud) for some activities, if the wifi connection to the camera isn't perfect, you will sometimes get a spinning wait symbol while it is communicating with the camera, so the app feels slow. So it overall works, but did not connect to all of my wifi routers, and has limited wifi range. The app is very functional, but sometimes slow when waiting for the camera to respond over the network.
