Community Fundraiser Thank You Video

When the Hot Docs Cinema Staff were recently temporarily laid off due to the cinema closing in accordance to Covid19 precautions and self-isolation measures, we quickly began Fundraising for Hot Docs' Out of Work Staff. Hourly wage employees receive very little to no stability, and are especially vulnerable in unprecedented moments like these, when charities, organizations, and individuals are all feeling this incredible amount of pressure to survive. As the Cinema staff rely on their bi-weekly paychecks to make ends meet, I hoped to be able to provide the 23 member team with $250 - $500 each in the immediate weeks following to supplement the hours of work that they had lost. Amazingly, with support from you incredible individuals we raised just over $10,000 and were able to support each team member with $500! That's incredible! That's dinners, medication, rent, community, generousity and such overwhelming support. Please accept this video as token of our Love & Appreciation.
