BURT LAKE WALLEYE FISHING - INDIAN RIVER, MI

In this video we travel up to one of our favorite Northern Michigan destinations, Burt Lake in Indian River, MI. Fishing on this trip was secondary as we were actually on a mini vacation with our girls and their friends so we had plenty of other things to do on the schedule. We were able to get out on Thursday night for a couple of hours with our youngest Kaylee and her friend Harper. They had never seen the Forward Facing Sonar in action and seemed very intrigued. In fact, they both got to reel in their first "Livescope" fish. On Friday morning Amber and I woke up early and even tried to get the girls up but no response. So it was just us and we launched the boat about 6am in the morning. We headed straight to one of our favorite areas around Cedar Point. I managed to pick up a couple shortly after we got there but we weren't marking many fish. We ventured out a little deeper and started seeing some schools of bait fish and perch. It didn't take long for Amber to hook up to her first walleye which had a nasty lamprey attached to it. She then proceeded to put on a jig and crawler clinic as she usually does. I get lots of netting practice. Her last fish was a dandy measuring 25-1/2". We love fishing Lake Erie but it's so nice to stay in our home state and travel north to Burt Lake. It's quiet and pristine and a great fishery. We try to make it up there a couple of times a year if we can. Stay tuned for our next video.
