Kanimozhi Somu: Centre Has No Role In ECI's SIR Process, It's Not Their Work

DMK Deputy General Secretary and Member of Parliament Kanimozhi Somu questioned the central government's involvement in the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. She stated, 'It is not their work. They are not part of the Election Commission and they need not campaign for that'. Somu argued that the ECI is an independent body and criticized the timing of the revision, suggesting it could have been done after the 2024 parliamentary elections. She linked the current work pressure to alleged suicides among Booth Level Officers (BLOs). somu also condemned the short duration of the upcoming winter session of Parliament, calling it the shortest in history and evidence that the government 'doesn't have business'.
