We live in a world where diversity of talent is acknowledged as critical for societal and business survival. Yet the approach to fostering diversity often leads to division and not to the unity of diversity. Drawing on the ancient fable delivered by Aristophanes in the Symposium, Kay Formanek and Dirk Luyten give a personal testimony of the components of united diversity and how united diversity creates the condition to collaborate with purpose. Dirk P. Luyten has more than 20 years of experience in strategic management consulting as Managing Partner at Arthur D Little and Accenture. Also, for nearly a decade, he has been investor and CEO in small retail companies. He currently holds various Board Memberships and collaborates with Diversity and Performance. He has worked and lived in Brussels, Madrid and Tokyo. He holds a Master Degree in Law and a Master Degree in Economics from the state University of Ghent, Belgium. He is an INSEAD MBA, holds a Certificate in Leadership Excellence through Awareness and Practice (LEAP, 2015) and a Certificate in Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption (2016) from the same School. Kay is founder and CEO of KAY Diversity & Performance B.V., a global company committed to embedding diversity of talent into the transformational purpose of companies to unleash more creativity, more innovation, more growth, more engagement and better financial outcomes. Before, Kay was Executive Director and Partner in Accenture for 25 years and assumed multiple leadership development, including roles within the Global Leadership Development Program, Diversity Forum, Unconscious Bias Task Force and acting as mentor and coach and sponsor for rising talent. Kay is passionate about diversity of talent and realises this by way of her Lecturing, Coaching, Publishing, Speaking and Advisory roles on this topic. She is mother of three children and lives in The Netherlands. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
