They are a mid flexing, single boa freestyle boot. I have fairly narrow feet, so whenever I was looking for boots, my number one thing I needed was good heel hold. Although generally if you are looking at boa boots, a double boa boot will give you better heel hold because it has more options for adjustment, they often have a stiffer flex, and I wanted boots that were a touch softer than the ThirtyTwo TM-twos that I used to have. The best thing about these boots for me is the SJ/Straight Jacket feature, which is a material panel that tightens separately from the boa/inner and it just holds your ankle down into the boot. For my feet, it works really well, but like any boots, you really want to try them on in a store if you can.
