Here is an excellent interview with a former patient who had the Gastric Bypass procedure over 6 years ago with Dr. Sosa. She was originally weighing 250lbs and is now down to 135lbs, an incredible result thanks to Dr. Sosa and his world class team. More importantly she has kept the weight off. The patient talks about how she uses semaglutide when needed to take off a few extra pounds. The patient had no complications after surgery and talked about how her diet changed after the gastric bypass surgery. Healthwise everything is amazing and she had very little side effects. She also talks about how she no longer craves sweets and how her hunger habits changed after the procedure. In the video they also talk about keeping track of what you eat with a food journal which is offered for purchase at the Sosa Clinic. They also talk about dumping syndrome which is common after Gastric Bypass, but most importantly how their dietary habits have changed overtime helping them to minimize dumping. Some questions asked by the audience. Will I Iose too much weight after weight loss surgery? If you get the Gastric Bypass surgery, you can lose up to 80% of excess weight loss. With the Gastric Sleeve you can lose up to 70% of the desired weight but their is a much greater chance the weight can return then with a bypass. Why do some patients look too skinny after weight loss surgery? Because they don't follow instructions. Usually this means they are not taking their vitamins and are not exercising. If you take your vitamins, take your protein, and exercise after weight loss surgery to increase your muscle mass, you will not look too skinny. Surgery alone will not help you achieve your goal. Diet and exercise are just as important. Which insurance covers the surgery? PPO plans through your employer are usually the best. Simply contact the office and a bariatric coordinator will check if your insurance covers bariatric surgery. Medicare also covers bariatric surgery as well as large corporations (American Airlines, Home Depot, etc..) may cover the bariatric surgery through a corporate plan. Many times it may be less expensive to pay out of pocket vs going through insurance. Obamacare in the state of Florida does not cover bariatric surgery. If you don't have insurance, we also offer financing through Care Credit. As long as your credit score is around 650, you can qualify for financing. We also work with many financing companies outside of care credit that can offer personal loans as another option. Sometimes personal loan rates are better then Care Credit. What about prices? Pricing varies on a number of factors. This can include which hospital, which procedure, current BMI, current health, and many other factors. You can speak to any of the bariatric coordinators to learn more about pricing. After you speak with the bariatric coordinators, you will have the opportunity to have a free consultation with Dr. Sosa where he will share final pricing and next steps. Finally, the staff discusses some of the ancillary services that are offered by Dream Spa. This includes Botox, Fillers, PRP for hair restoration and so much more. There is a monthly support group if you have had surgery or are considering bariatric surgery. This is great for patients looking for support after bariatric surgery and to hear from other patients.
