Yala Peak (5530m) is a distinctive rock peak rising above Nepal's Langtang Valley. Many of Langtang's highest peaks can be seen from its summit, including Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri and Ganchenpo. The mountain is very close to the Tibetan border and Shishapangma, the world's fourteenth highest mountain, can be see behind an adjacent ridge. Yala Peak used to be classified as a trekking peak, but its relatively low altitude means it can now be climbed without a permit. It is normally a rock scramble, but on this occasion the summit was snow-covered. This short film is of an ascent of the mountain from its south side after skirting around the flanks of Tserko Ri. It was a winter ascent, and there was a lot more snow than normal. For a full trip report see: http://www.markhorrell.com/blog/2017/...
