On September 1, 2021 the most restrictive abortion ban in the U.S. went into effect in Texas, immediately shutting down access for thousands of Texans forced to either flee the state or carry a pregnancy they had not planned to. As states like Oklahoma and Idaho consider similar bans, Planned Parenthood staff in Texas have seen the devastating impact of this law up close for more than seven months. Working with a documentary film crew, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas spent two days on the ground with their staff at the Southwest Fort Worth Health Center and their Dallas-based Patient Navigation team to capture the realities faced by both staff and patients. The result is a powerful nine-minute film that gives viewers a glimpse into real interactions between staff and patients seeking abortion under the wire of this extreme law, and what happens when they cannot.
