Its new mission: destroy PACT at-sea replenishment convoy loaded with fuel, ammo, and other consumables (at least one tender type, plus escorts). Thumbnail: Tender goes kaboom ----- 00:52 Extra Encounter We bumped into PACT subsurface contact on the way to Blue 043. We have 11 torpedoes left, but two subs with their baffles toward us are too tempting to pass up. We fired two torpedoes, and we bagged a November and a Victor II. 05:55 Convoy Intercepted We bumped into the convoy at the northern end of Blue 043. We found a Dubna tender, an Andizhan M transport, escorted by 2 x Grisha IIIs, a Kashin, and a Poti gunboat. We ended up killing the Dubna and the Andizhan, then the closer Grisha and the Kashin which charged us. The Poti and the other Grisha ran away, so they lived. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! NEW PRIORITY ORDER: Kill enemy task force... around Blue 044, look for capships with cruise missiles. We waited on Blue 043, but the only notable departure from Murmansk was a supply convoy. We decided to hit it, but we had to dodge a subsurface contact, as we are a bit short on torpedoes now. We finally intercepted the convoy at Blue 044. 14:05 Is this the target? We quickly identified the ships as a Kazbek tender and a Chilikin transport, escorted by Kashin, Kotlin, Krivak, Kresta, and Sovremenny. However, the Chilikin isn't moving with the convoy... Then sonar got the correct ID... it's a civilian Partizan freighter, not a Chilikin transport. We fired two torpedoes and sank the Kazbek and the Kresta II. Kotlin and Krivak ran away, but Sovremenny and Kashin charged us, so they each got a torpedo as well. Our final torpedo sank the Kotlin. With no torpedoes remaining, we disengaged. And we got a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED message. Huh? Did we get someone else's orders? Whatever... We need to go back to Holy Loch anyway... What's really bizarre is we didn't get the order to go back for reloads. But instead, got another priority mission... PRIORITY MISSION: Destroy PACT at-sea replenishment convoy around Blue 043. 24:07 Reached Holy Loch We reloaded 19 expended Mk 48s and headed back out toward Blue 043, but it may be too late to catch that convoy, which was sighted by one of the Norwegian long-range patrols... As for how I fare in that mission...
