Japan PM Ishiba resigns: Tokyo residents saying "no" to Liberal Democratic Party

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced his resignation on Sunday, instructing his Liberal Democratic Party to hold an emergency leadership race. Ishiba's last act as premier will have been to finalize the trade deal with the United States last week, under which Japan pledged $550 billion of investments in return for lower tariffs from U.S. President Donald Trump. "Personally, I don’t really have anything against Ishiba, and I don’t think the issue this time is really his fault. It’s more that we, the people, are saying ‘no’ to the Liberal Democratic Party," Tokyo resident Hitomi Enomoto said. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reacted saying "I'm surprised because I knew him, I liked him... I found him to be a very nice man actually. We dealt very well together."
