I have been making videos from the Gaula River for over a year. This is the first time one overlaps in time with last year’s. My plan was to take the car and drive down to the river to make a short video. But because of the cold, my car didn’t start—either the battery was too low or there wasn’t enough diesel. It was also parked uphill. There might be condensation building up in the tank if the fuel level is low. So then I looked at the buses, and there was one that would take me halfway, leaving in three minutes. I knew I wouldn’t make it in time. The next bus was an hour later, which would be too late, so I thought maybe some forces didn’t want me to go. I was about to take off my jacket when I thought, wait, I can walk. It’s possible. I’ve never done it before in –15 degrees, but sure. It’s about an 11 km round trip. And so I did. I had lots of energy and am so glad I did it this way. So here it is—not the most exciting video, but interestingly, it’s quite different from the one at the same time last year.
